You may have heard there's an expansion draft coming up on Wednesday where the Dynamo are likely to lose one player to next year's newest club, the Philadelphia Union. (If you think that's bad, wait 'til next year, with two teams coming in!) Anyway, teams had to submit their list of 11 protected players today, so here's ours:

Corey Ashe
Bobby Boswell
Geoff Cameron
Brian Ching
Brad Davis
Andrew Hainault
Tally Hall
Stuart Holden
Brian Mullan
Dominic Oduro
Cam Weaver

Additionally, Danny Cruz and Tyler Deric are exempt from being selected due to their status as Generation adidas and home-grown players, respectively.

Teams can only lose one player, at most, in the expansion draft. We'll find out Philadelphia's picks some time on Wednesday.

I would hate to see Mike Chabala go, protect Oduro and Weaver haha why we need Chabala more than those guys

I say we should keep our Defense more stable. Switch out to the not safe list Oduro for Chabala. Chabala is a good defender........Oduro is a speedy guy but can't control the ball to make that pass. Landin is not as fast but he has the better skill than Oduro. I guess oduro would be good for a trade option if needed...... His speed is gonna be his money maker. I think Danny Cruz will be a good addition in the future to us..he needs a little more Big League play. I saw the FIFA10 and saw the Dynamo guys and was laughing. They tried to incorporate all the guys mannerisms into the charachters. Dynamo FO pony up the money for Stuie......He is WELL WORTH IT.......!!!!!!

So, seeing who all each team is willing to protect, which of the draft-available players would you hypothetically 'not mind' seeing in Orange in the future?

It's safe to say no team in the league enjoys this part of the process. You could make a strong argument it's not necessary, especially for teams like Seattle, Vancouver, and Portland who can retain their minor-league roster. It's part of playing in a single-entity league and growing the sport in the U.S., but it's definitely frustrating from the perspective of individual teams.

I said somewhere else, I hate it, it's like some guy wants to build a new house in your neighborhood, but he gets to choose 1 piece of furniture from every house in the neighborhood to furnish it. He doesn't have to pay you or anything, just come and take it. It just seems dumb to me, you work hard to groom your players, to shape and mold them to fit into your style, to make them feel a part of your team, then you have to make a list of which ones you for sure want to keep and put the rest out for the wolves. Dumb.

We doubt Philadelphia is willing to use its DP slot on him, regardless of salary. Again, the expansion draft is usually about bargains and flexibility. Most teams want to save their money and roster slots for any big international or returning domestic signings. Any list of 11 protected players exposes players we want to keep in Houston. But we have to do it, so our coaches and executives make the best choices they can. Let's wait and see what happens tomorrow.

Hopefully they won't take Landín because of his salary, right? Please say they won't....

Nigel - Luis' loan status does not exempt him from being selected.
Christine - Remember that age and salary are major factors in most expansion drafts, plus there is a decent chance Philadelphia will take Jon Conway (Pennsylvania native) from Chivas USA to fill their goalkeeping spot.

Let me preface this by saying I don't think the Dynamo are done yet. They can still possibly squeak in like NY did several years ago and Real Salt Lake last year. (I think that's right). I'm exited about that underdog role. I just don't get why Odu…

We do have a 1st round pick (for the first time in awhile) and I hope we utilize it more than we have in years past. I have to believe that we'll be reshaping a roster this offseason dramatically and it seems quite clear that the Dynamo are done fo…

Oduro to Dynamo for 2 draft picks (2010 & 2011). Serioux to Dynamo for a third round 2011 MLS SuperDraft pick. Houston should do some late trades to get some 2011 SuperDraft picks.

I think it was very evident by the starting lineup this past Sunday that Dom and the guys have thrown in the towel. I can't remember if we actually have draft picks this year or if we traded them away. If we do have them, its time to finally get mul…
