The Dynamo closed their preseason with a 3-1 win over Chivas USA Saturday night in the second annual Spring Classic at Harder Stadium on the campus of the University of California-Santa Barbara.

All-time leading scorer Brian Ching had two assists as Houston took a 2-0 lead, and All-Star midfielder Brad Davis scored in his first appearance since playing for the U.S. national team on February 24.

The Dynamo took the lead with goals in the 51st and 59th minutes, as Ching set up first Dominic Oduro and then Davis for goals. Chivas USA came back with a headed goal from Yamith Cuesta from a corner kick in the 83rd minute. Houston quickly restored its two-goal advantage when Adrian Serioux headed in a corner kick from Francisco Navas Cobo.

For Houston, Davis made his first appearance since leaving the United States game against El Salvador with a hamstring injury, and Richard Mulrooney played 88 minutes – his longest stint since coming back from knee surgery.

Houston finished the preseason unbeaten, going 7-0-4 overall, 3-0-4 against professional opposition, and 2-0-3 against MLS teams.

The Dynamo's regular season begins March 27 with a road match against FC Dallas, and the Houston home opener is on Thursday, April 1, against defending MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake. More information is available by calling (713) 276-7500.

A portion of the proceeds from the Spring Classic will be donated to Direct Relief International, a Santa Barbara-based nonprofit organization focused on improving quality of live by bringing critically needed medicines and supplies to local healthcare providers worldwide.

Web - We checked with the coaching staff at training on Monday, and they confirmed that Landin came on for Ching around the 60-minute mark. As for the Serioux goal, it was definitely Navas Cobo who took the corner.

I was watching the Chivas one but also someone who was a Dynamo fan I think was there and was on twitter, it was that one that was talking about Landín going in and assisting Serioux. But they might not have known the players well, though they did specifically say "Landín is ready to go in," the that he had assisted on the goal. So, who knows?

If he didn't play, I wonder why now, since he did play the whole game a few days ago, unless it was just to rest him. It seems like he would have played some, anyway.

But regardless, we'll be in Frisco on Saturday and can see for ourselves!!!

Web - We weren't there; that report came from Chivas USA, so don't know what to tell you. What Twitter account were you watching?

So Landin didn't play? On the twitter reports I was watching last night, they said he went in in the second half and assisted on Serioux's goal, instead of Navas Cobo. Does twitter lie?

Great time last night at the All Star v Man U game. Excellent atmosphere and venue. Had a great time. Man U was classic and the All Stars (in the first half anyway) looked like it was an exhibition.  The Dynamo connection was very apparent as Ching…

Agreed that the midfield needs strengthening up and Cameron being out is huge right now. I have said this before. I think the Dynamo can't even get an exhibition game with a european team. We are destined to play Pachuca for the foreseeable future.…

Really the only thing we can talk about is defense. Defense keeps us from losing games. I do believe we can live with constant ties, but we can't afford anymore loses for the rest of the season.
